INVITATION TO SEDOS RESIDENTIAL SEMINAR June 16 – 20 2025
Greetings to you all as we move towards the celebration of the Easter Triduum. Many of our members live in situations where suffering and death are daily realities. And so the capacity to live the paschal mystery, clinging on to the hope and joy that the resurrection brings, is even more meaningful in these situations. We pray for them and for all Christians that this Easter Triduum will be a time of deep reflection and spiritual renewal, giving new impetus and hope to our missionary commitments.
I take this opportunity to appeal to as many members as possible to consider attending the Residential Seminar in Nemi this year.
The theme chosen for the seminar: Missionary Institutes and Synodality: Charism, Prophecy and Witness, is an important theme for all missionary Institutes at this particular time.
As the entire Church continues on the path towards a more synodal expression of being Church together, and awakens more fully to the call that all baptised are missionary disciples, there is a challenge here to all ‘Missionary’ Institutes to discern what is the call today for those of us with a ‘specific’ missionary charism.
It is our hope this year, as we design the programme for the seminar in Nemi that we will live this seminar in a very synodal way, taking time in small groups to discern deeply what we hear the spirit calling us to along the parameters of Charism, Prophecy and Witness. We will use the Conversation in the Spirit methodology and will devote adequate time for personal reflection as well as for dialogue in plenary sessions. We truly want to harvest the wisdom of each and every participant and ultimately of the group, to help us listen to what the spirit is saying to ‘us’, the members of SEDOS at this time.
As the entire Church is being called to enter into the implementation phase of the Synod on Synodality from 2025 to 2028, we have a responsibility also to consider what our specific gift may be in this synodal pathway. By God’s grace, the time together in Nemi this year will help us deepen our awareness of our call and responsibility in this area.
