‘New trends in mission, the emerging Future’ is the new book release from SEDOS. It is a compilation of presentations given during the Mission Symposium of 2021. An excellent gathering of contemporary thought on mission.

Fr. Carl Tranter MSC presented the Cor Vitae Renewal Program session on 4th June 2022 on Zoom. The Topic was “Charism and Spirituality” and in his presentation he looks at Charism, Spirit, and Mission according to the mind and heart of Fr. Jules Chevalier. Why INTER GENTES? This renewal program has an intentional focus on self, mission and interculturality, referring to the experience of community living, life, and ministry among people from different ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, genders, and age groups, thus the name Inter Gentes. Women and men religious, and diocesan priests may consider the Inter Gentes Renewal Program as a transitional time to review and renew their commitment to the mission of God in this ever—diversifying world.
This Fellowship Program will welcome its 15th cohort of Russell Berrie Fellows to study at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). It is a one-year academic fellowship for students pursuing a Licentiate Degree in Theology (STL), with a specialization in Ecumenism and Dialogue, or earning a Diploma in Interreligious Studies. The application deadline is April 25, 2022.

The linking of ‘mission’ and ‘devotion’ today would probably seem outlandish to many with a risk of tying it to some time-bound piety. Chevalier sensed part of this difficulty when he refrained from speaking of devotion to the Sacred Heart as ‘a devotion’, preferring to see it as a summary of Christianity itself. Mission is not merely a matter of spreading information; nor merely a matter of something we do for others; it is something we are.
