Building Integrity for Mission
Back in August, Pope Francis sent a message of encouragement to participants in the Rimini Meeting for Friendship amongst Peoples, calling them to be courageous in seeking Christ-filled paths to start again after the pandemic. He emphasised that personal responsibility was the key to improving a post-pandemic world.
On November 22, Pope Francis gave a card, “The Beatitudes of the Bishop” to all members of the CEI (the Italian conference of bishops) meeting in Rome. The text offers encouragement and pastoral guidance not only to the Italian bishops but to the more than 5,000 Catholic bishops in the world today.
This paper was presented to the participants of the 2021 General Conference to reflect on the process of deep change through generative listening in the congregation. In these greatly challenging days, I have the sense that we are building a new kind of collective wisdom, one that for the moment remains mysterious. Although we are in the time of “social distancing”, the space between us is somehow growing smaller.
